Toboggan Run & Carriage Path

Greater Portland is lucky to have over 70 miles of public trails, beautifully maintained by Portland Trails, and most are pet friendly.

Toboggan Run gets its name from an actual wooden toboggan chute that was built on the Western Promenade in the 1920’s. Now it’s a prime spot for sunset walks, with plenty of space for your four-legged friend to explore. The wooded paths cut down the hill from the Western Prom sidewalks, connecting the Valley Street Dog Park and the community garden. Start at the dog park for some playtime with friends, then head up the hill to catch the stunning view over the Fore River. Just make sure you pay attention to signs, as unfortunately dogs are not allowed in the Western Cemetery.

Ollie’s favorite part is the Valley Street Dog Park! He will be on the lookout for any of his friends that you may have adopted from the Animal Refuge League of Greater PortlandMaps proudly sponsored by Evergreen Credit Union.
